Tell me God is not still in the business of doing miracles, and i'll tell you this...

March 25, 2014 Julia Heckathorn

Let me tell you about a story you may have heard, and end with more that i've only told to a few.

I'll take you back to September of 2012 when i was miraculously healed by the most venomous pit viper, and not only did our mission in that remote jungle village succeed because of it, but there were lasting effects that i would have never dreamed of.

It was a typical day in conservation on the beautiful island of Escudo in Panama. Our research continued amidst the storms we encountered, which often left us short of dead whether by nearly shipwrecked boat, mobs attacking our planes and persons, and now this, a deadly snake. After successful research in discovering 3 of the foods that pygmy sloths eat on the island and documenting not only this, but more cut trees, litter lining the beaches, and a good count of the sloths in the mangroves, everything changed...

It is the Horned Marsupial Frog, whose large eggs are carried in a pouch on the female's back. 60-80 days later, fully formed frogs emerge from the pouch, skipping the tadpole stage altogether.  Sadly, this nocturnal, marsupial frog is endangered, and in some parts of the wild, extinct due to habitat loss and disease. Without an ex-situ conservation plan, these frogs have little chance of surviving in their natural habitats....

Sloths Could Be Carrying Cancer Treatment Around On Their Backs

...And if what this article says is true, we need to work together even more to save the sloths that are in danger of becoming extinct.

Join us in this fight to save the sloths. Purchase a Hidden Clover Children's book, and your proceeds will go directly to our work in the communities to educate the Ngobe people, research the sloths, continue the park ranger service, get stoves to the fishermen so they don't cut down anymore trees for fuel, garbage collection services to stop litter, and many more projects.
